Beach quality – Blue flag

The proof that we are the best

Blue Flag

The Blue Flag has started to become an important factor in the selection of a destination for the ideal vacation. As the symbol of sustainable sea and seashore management, it is a highly esteemed tourism symbol for the international ecological program of sea and seashore environment protection.

We are extremely proud of the fact that two beaches, both under the concession of Lošinj Hotels&Villas, have won Blue Flags for the area of the Island of Lošinj. The Veli žal beach and the Punta beach in Veli Lošinj carry the sign of ecological and sustainable sea and seashore management.

BEACHES – QUALITY AND DESCRIPTION

Veli Žal

The first beach on Lošinj to be awarded with the Blue Flag, a symbol of international ecological programme for marine and coastal protection, is precisely Veli žal. Pebbled beach with easy access to the sea, which is extremely suitable for families with small children and with access for people with reduced mobility make Veli žal very popular. The paved part of the beach is suitable for sunbeds.

Experienced lifeguards are overseeing the beach on daily basis. Additional facilities on the beach include sunbeds and parasols, changing rooms, showers, bathrooms, and boat rental.

Passing above the beach is a promenade that connects the two most beautiful bays on Lošinj – Sunčana Bay with the beach Veli žal, and Čikat bay.

There are a bowling alley and a restaurant nearby, while Family Hotel Vespera 4* and Wellness Hotel Aurora 4* are perched just above the beach. The visitors can also partake in many sports activities such as aqua aerobics, tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, and water sports. Children’s playground in near vicinity.

You can find your peace in the shade of pine-trees that surround the beach, which is at only 1 km from the centre of Mali Lošinj.

Borik

Borik is a pebbled beach with easy access to the sea, making it convenient for families with small children. The beach is located in the Sunčana Bay, near the Family Hotel Vespera and Wellness Hotel Aurora. The distance to the centre of Mali Lošinj is cca 1 km.

The rocky part of the beach is ideal for sunbathing, and since Borik is facing west, here you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.

The beach is equipped with many facilities such as sunbeds, parasols, paddleboat and bicycle rental, beach volley ball court, basketball court, handball court, and seven-a-side court.

Borik Mediterranean Bar is located at the very beach and offers refreshment and local cuisine.

Čikat Bay

Surrounded by a thick pine-tree forest of the Čikat Park and at only 1 km from the centre of Mali Lošinj, this is one of the most popular beaches on the island of Lošinj.

There are three smaller coves in the bay, with the sandy beach being the most popular and the most convenient for families with small children. Many facilities are available for visitors’ use such as surfing or diving school; rental of boats, kayaks, catamarans with sails, and paddle boats; aqua park; showers, and many water sports: sailing, water polo, and windsurfing.

Hotel Bellevue 5* is located in the same bay as well as many villas from Austro-Hungarian era, campsites, and restaurants that offer local cuisine.

Punta

Punta beach is located in front of the Vitality Hotel Punta 4* in Veli Lošinj and has carried the Blue Flag for 10 years, which proves the quality of the sea and environment.

It is ideal for pleasures of the sea, as well as sunbathing on the paved areas with sunbeds and parasols. There is a special little beach for children. Close by you can find outdoor pools and many sports facilities and activities such as waterskiing, tennis courts, boulder, rides on tube or banana, wake boarding, bicycle rental and others.

Rovenska

Located in the eponymous fishing bay, the Rovenska beach has been protected from the strong northern winds by a breakwater built in 1856. This is a pebbled beach with easy access to the sea, making it perfect for families with children.

The thick pine-tree forest shadowing the beach offers shade in hot summer days.

A promenade passing the beach takes you from Veli Lošinj, via the southern side of the island and coves of Javorna, Krška, and Jamina to the southernmost tip of the island, Mrtvaška cove.

There are showers and bathrooms in the near vicinity of the beach, and four restaurants that offer local cuisine.
